What a week! This is a long email, but that’s because there is a lot going on! Since I wrote you last, I have been in Monroe, Seattle, Shoreline, Bellingham, Renton, and Everett.
Thank you to the 39th Legislative District Democrats for getting us all together on Saturday. That day I also received the sole endorsement of the 10th Legislative District Democrats! Thank you!
On Sunday, I co-led a training for a local nonprofit on how to be an effective citizen advocate. My commitment to reconnecting people and their elected officials so that we have a say in our government’s policies started in high school and persists to this day. We’ve had two great examples recently of the power of people – nationally in the delay in consideration of SOPA/PIPA and locally in Senator Haugen’s decision to support the marriage equality bill.
Monday was spent in Whatcom County meeting with various Democratic party officials and activists. I also sat down with the political reporter for the Bellingham Herald. Read the story he posted here.
Tuesday I filmed an interview with Robert Mak for his Up Front television show. Here is the broadcast schedule and where you can watch the program online. Then it was off to the King County Democrats for a second visit where I was able to assure them I support keeping Social Security solvent by scrapping the cap.
Wednesday found most of the candidates in Everett, talking to the Snohomish County Labor Council. I was honored to have their support in 2004 and I hope to earn it again. Last night we had our first candidate forum in Seattle, hosted by the Metropolitan Democratic Club. If you couldn’t make it, TVW will be airing the entire forum.
The other big news of the week is that we have a campaign manager!I’ll do a better introduction of Liz Berry next week. She has great experience, working most recently for Fuse, and before that for Congresswoman Giffords. Liz starts officially on Wednesday.
Endorsements
The big news this week here is the sole endorsement of the 10th Legislative District Democrats. Click here to see the complete list and add your name.

On February 6th at 10a, we need envelope stuffers! We’ll be gathering around my dining room table in Kirkland. Reply to this email if you can make it.
Your decision to get involved either by contributing or signing up to volunteer (or both!) is the most important factor in who will be our next congressional representative.
As always, please feel free to reply (the messages come straight to me) or call my cell phone at 425-445-0970.
